Current Work In Progress
For several years now, I’ve been writing a novel. A work of historical fiction that takes place in two different time periods. Set on the fringes of Lafayette, Alabama, in a rural community called Marcoot, the story opens on the day of Edna Josephine Johnson’s eightieth birthday. Her son and daughter-in-law have decided they cannot let such a momentous occasion go by without a celebration. Against Eddie Jo’s wishes, they plan a party and invite a host of Eddie Jo’s friends. The party proves to be a catalyst that brings long buried secrets to the surface. Secrets surrounding the death of Eddie Jo’s cousin, Maddie, who died in 1933 on Eddie Jo’s sixteenth birthday.
If all goes according to plan, it won’t be much longer before I type “The End” on this project. With that in mind, I’d like to begin bringing you into Eddie Jo’s story, as well as providing some interesting tidbits about the historical setting, the location, and some of the things that have inspired me along the way.
